Boyle, Larry P.
Jan 11, 1941 - March 6, 2012
Retired Omaha business owner, Larry Boyle passed away in Kapolei Hawaii. Preceded in death by parents, Gilbert and Irene; brothers, Jess and Maurice; daughter, Cristen Boyle; son, Kevin Dugan. Survived by wife Linda Boyle; sisters Joy (Dennis) Hegarty, Sandra McGarity; sons: Larry (LeeAnn) Boyle, Curtis Boyle, Scott (Jane) Dugan; daughter-in-law Cynthia Dugan; 9 grandchildren Taylor (Cassie) Boyle, Shelby (Michael) Williams, Nathaniel, Josie, Ian, Jeremiah, Layla, Katie and Emily; 2 great-grandchildren Wesley and Leo. Larry was President of Rent Sum Wheels, which grew to be the largest independently-owned car rental company in the Midwest, with seven locations in three states. After retirement, Larry became a student of the stock market, becoming a successful independent investor. Larry and wife Linda became "snowbirds" to Hawaii five years ago. Every morning, Larry would sit on the Lanai to watch the spectacular show of the rolling surf and breaching whales...the awesome power of God. Larry was a supporter of the Open Door Mission, particularly their commitment to troubled young women. In Hawaii he was actively involved with the Once a Month Church, a nonprofit that serves the homeless, the working poor and the elderly. He also was a supporter of the international organization Smile Train. Larry loved sending time with his grandchildren, teaching them the lessons of life, values, and unconditional love. Per Larry's wishes, there will be a ceremony at sea where his remains will be scattered on the North Shore of Oahu at a place where he loved to watch the ocean and the whales every day.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD IN OMAHA AT A LATER DATE. Information will be posted at the time.
